It's Q&A time with our very own, Madiha Khan!


What is your role at Exquisite Events? Event design and planner.

What is your education & event experience background? I graduated from college and went into finance. I was always helping my mom with events on the weekends and I loved it. I grew up seeing her entertain so it was and is second nature.

What separate Exquisite Events from the rest? Since we are a mother-daughter team it is nice when we meet families because we both relate to them in different ways. A lot of times we are not only planning with the couple but the parents are involved too and it is important to be able to connect with everyone during the process. You are also guaranteed either Nikki or myself to design and plan your event and for us, our events are not about how many we can do in a year but rather the quality that we can produce to exceed our client's expectations.

What has been your favorite part about working with your mother? Learning from her. I have been very fortunate to have someone like Nikki pave a path for me and do it with such grace. Women in business always impress me and the fact that she started Exquisite Events from nothing 17 years ago is incredible!

What has been your most memorable event to date? There are a few that stick out to me but I will say that last year we did a 4 day destination wedding at the One and Only Palmilla in Los Cabos that was absolutely spectacular and so fun. The couple was from New York and they were both so sweet.

Tell us a time when you had an event emergency: Once a client hired their own caterer who did not bring enough staff to plate the food so me and my staff put some gloves on and plated 200 plates of food. I'll never forget that one!

For all the future brides, what is your biggest advice when planning a wedding? We know that most of our couples are doing this for the first time and don't know what things cost. Budget is important. Once we have your inspiration we will be able to tell you what decor would cost. We are planners and we are here to help our client at the end of the day and trust is also very important.

Best day-of-wedding advice? Make sure to have someone in charge of photos and family portraits that way you ensure that all important people are in the photos.

If you could plan any event right now, what would be you plan? Cocktail party by the beach, fancy sit down dinner, etc. My dream event would be on a vineyard in Tuscany or Como. Basically anywhere in Italy would be a dream.

Favorites:
Vacation Spot? For a quick get away we love to do Cabo since it's 2 hours away. Beach vacations are the best with kids.
Restaurant? I would say Osteria Mozza is still my all time favorite.
Beverage? Water and a Greyhound.
Dessert? Not huge into dessert but give me a Butter cake from Maestros any day of the week! I am also a sucker for almond rochas.
Beauty Item? Anything skin care.
Fashion Designer? Pakistani - Élan // India - Sabyasachi // and then Elie Saab is my favorite gown designer
Thing to do when you are not working? Spend time with my 2 boys who are 5 years old and 6 months old.
